Sledding Injury Spurs Helmet Advocacy

Posted on Monday, February 16th, 2009 at 8:02 am

On New Year’s Day, a family went out to use a new sled. Going down a hill, the family’s 10 year old son hit a bump, flipped over and hit his head, knocking him unconscious. It took a while for him to wake up, and he is still having problems related to the injury.

Headaches, hearing loss and slurred speech were a few of the complications that might have been avoided with use of a helmet. Because of this, the family is now advocating use of helmets in activities like sledding so that the same thing does not happen to other families.

Construction Accident Kills 7 People

Posted on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009 at 8:02 am

The owner of Rapetti Rigging Services has recently been held responsible for the accident that killed 6 construction workers and 1 tourist.

A crane collapsed while members of Rapetti’s construction business were working on the 18th  story of a New York building.

Cranes are normally held up by slings.  In this case, Rapetti used 4 of his own slings, one of which was badly worn.  Consequently, the sling snapped that was used to support a 22-story crane and  a 6-ton metal collar also used to support the crane fell on to 2 of the collars below.

The impact killed 6 innocent construction workers and a tourist.

If you or someone you know has been injured on a job site due to negligence on the owner’s behalf, please contact your Sheboygan personal injury lawyer at 800-242-2874 to discuss your case.
