Local Man Charged with Stalking and Harassment

by Administrator 19. March 2009 04:44

Parish T. Palmer, a Sheboygan resident, was charged last month with stalking and harassing a woman, including one incident in which police say he poured bleach onto her bedroom and living room furniture.

Palmer, 23, had a key to the woman's apartment, but was prohibited by the terms of a bail bond from contacting her. The young woman, also 23, told authorities that Palmer had repeatedly claimed he would "(expletive) her up." On January 24 of this year, she noticed him walking away from her home, and came inside to discover bleach had been splashed on several items of furniture.

Palmer has been charged with felony stalking and misdemeanor trespassing and property damage. If convicted, he could face up to three years of jail time.

Stalking and harassement are serious crimes that often escalate into violence when left unreported. If you or someone know love has been the target of stalking or harassment, contact the Sheboygan personal injury lawyers of Habush, Habush & Roittier, S.C. at 800-242-2874.

Snow Plow Accident Kills 1

by Administrator 10. March 2009 05:37

A Manitowoc man was plowing a church parking lot on Monday morning when an accident occurred. Around 6:40am, a woman slipped and fell in the parking lot and was run over by the snow plow.

The woman was killed in the accident, but police are not pressing charges. Instead they are using this as a warning for people to be careful when walking in the snow.

If you or someone you know has been injured in an accident, contact the Sheboygan personal injury attorneys of Habush, Habush & Rottier, SC at 800-242-2874.

Teachers Seek Right to Sue Light Bulb Maker

by Administrator 5. March 2009 04:58

Three Oregon teachers spoke at the state capitol on Wednesday, seeking the right to sue the manufacturer of a type of light bulb which they say caused injury to their eyes.  The teachers had successfully lobbied to ban the metal halide light bulbs from public schools two years earlier.

Under Oregon state law, product liability lawsuits must be filed within eight years of the product's purchase.  As a result, the teachers were not eligible to sue the light bulb maker. Oregon is one of the few states in the country which has such a legal provision.  State lawmakers are currently considering Senate Bill 307, which would extend to 25 years the amount of time plaintiffs have to file a liability lawsuit after purchase.

Denise Fletter, one of the teachers who spoke on Wednesday, must wear sunglasses and has now had to give up teaching due to eye damage she said was caused by exposure to the bulbs.  The teachers claim that the faulty design of the light bulbs in question led to the leaking of ultraviolet radiation.  The bulbs were removed from schools in 2007.

If you or someone you know has suffered an illness due to a defective product, it is important that you have a qualified legal expert on your side.  Contact the Sheboygan personal injury lawyers of Habush, Habush & Rottier, SC at 800-220-2874 to schedule a consultation.
