Wisconsin Supreme Court Rules That Homeowner is Liable For Pet Attack

Posted under 47c9f961-93a3-403a-9c73-0e2a7ec3aca9

Homeowner liability has been a hot-button issue in recent years, especially when it comes to responsibility for pet attacks. The Wisconsin Supreme Court unanimously ruled that a woman who allowed a man and his dogs to live in her home is responsible for injuries caused to a neighbor when the dogs attacked.

While the woman's defense attorneys argued that she should not be held responsible because the dogs were under the direct supervision of their "keeper", the court ruled that her actions of "harboring" the animals made her liable for her neighbor's injuries.
