Four Companies Being Sued for Furnace Explosion

Posted under 64109629-e4e9-48fa-9604-f3f11400d4f2

Four manufacturing companies are being sued by the parents of a 37 year-old woman who was severely burned and died after a furnace at her workplace exploded. The lawsuit claims that the companies' furnace had design defects that caused it to spurt hot liquified metal onto the woman and two of her co-workers. The companies have already been sued once for this same incident.

The woman was at work on the morning of April 12, 2010, when metal inside the furnaces near where she was working somehow touched water and exploded. One employee suing the companies had to jump from a platform 15 feet high to escape the metal after trying to aid his co-workers.
