The parents of a Centreville, Virginia teen recently filed a lawsuit against the makers of the caffeinated malt liquor beverage, Four Loko, after their son died after consuming the drink. This is the second lawsuit filed against the manufacturers, Phusion Projects, for the death of a young person after drinking the beverage.
The 15-year-old son of the parents filing the lawsuit died on September 26. He was hit by an SUV after drinking two cans of the beverage and running out into a dark highway. According to the lawsuit, the boy did not know the effect the drink would have on him.
Phusion Projects has stated that they are not to blame for the boy's death because the beverage was not intended for minors. Following the deaths of people after drinking the beverage, Four Loko has been banned for sale in many states across the country.
