Class-action lawsuit filed for hepatitis C outbreak

Posted under hospital negligence attorneys

A Concord law firm has filed a class-action lawsuit against Exeter Hospital in New Hampshire after 20 patients, including a staff member, contracted hepatitis C. A criminal investigation will be launched to determine if any crimes were committed in relation to the outbreak.

Public health officials, who have been conducting their own investigation, believe the disease was spread by hospital staff who used syringes on more than one patient, according to the Boston Globe.

Hepatitis C is an infectious disease that affects the liver and can lead to cirrhosis. Hepatitis C may also cause chronic health issues.
