A 19 year-old man has been sentenced to ten years in prison and ten years supervised released after he critically injured a Milwaukee police officer Christmas night. The driver had been drinking and was driving the wrong-way down 17th Street and Windlake Avenue at the time of the accident.
The teenager pleaded no contest to first-degree felony charges of reckless injury and reckless endangerment. After the collision, the teen fled the scene and was later captured in Chicago where officers believe he planned to flee to Mexico.
The injured policeman is still recovering from his injuries. He suffered a brain injury, severe leg injuries, facial lacerations, and missing teeth.
