A traffic accident that took place Sunday afternoon on March 10, caused two people harm after an automobile crashed into an object in the road and caught on fire. The object, a box, was in the road due to one of the drivers forgetting to secure it inside his gray pickup truck, the Sheboygan Police Department reported.
According to the police, the 72-year-old Sheboygan driver of the pickup truck was heading eastward towards Washington Avenue (E. Wisconsin Highway 28) at about 1:45 p.m. when the box flew from the open bed of his truck. After stopping his car to get the box from the road, another eastbound vehicle, a Mercury Sable driven by a 43-year-old Waldo resident, hit the box, then consequently struck the pickup truck from behind.
The collision of the car and the pickup caused the Sable to catch fire and the truck’s other passengers—a 61-year-old and a 21-year-old—to be injured. They were immediately brought to a nearby hospital to receive medical attention.
