On Sunday, December 1, a Metro-North train car crash in the Bronx killed four people. Before the crash, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) was already reviewing the safety standards of the train cars.
The safety review was prompted by previous crashes that occurred on the same train line in May of 2013. The final report is expected to be released in May of 2014.
The May train accident involved a commuter train, mostly occupied by Connecticut residents, headed from Manhattan to Connecticut.
