BMW Recalls 200,000 Automobiles

by Administrator 15. August 2008 04:08

The German automobile manufacturer, BMW, will be recalling two hundred thousand cars in September due to problems with the passenger side airbags.  Tests have shown that in certain models of BMW cars and sport-utility vehicles, side airbags may not deploy should the car be involved in a significant crash.

The models affected by the recall include the 2004 and 2005 5-Series, 2006 3-Series and the 2004-2006 X3 cars.  The recall notice states that the airbag problem is the result of a faulty sensor that may become deactivated over time, caused by individuals entering and exiting the cars.

This news comes as quite a surprise to BMW owners and manufacturers, as the company has always received high rankings for safety, quality and reliability.

For all recalled vehicles, BMW will agree to extend the airbag warranty for an additional ten years with no mileage limits.
