How do you properly use a child car seat?
Infants should always ride rear-facing until they weigh at least 20 pounds and are 1 year of age. Toddlers and preschoolers, as long as they are at least 1 year of age and weigh 20 pounds, can ride facing forward. However, it is recommended they ride rear-facing as long as possible. School age children can ride forward but should use a booster seat until seat belts fit properly. Older children can also ride forward facing but should sit in the backseat as much as possible.
