On April 1st, over 50,000 pounds of frozen Jennie-O turkey were recalled because of a serious strain of Salmonella that broke out between the months of December and March.
The FDA issued the recall with cooperation from the Jennie-O brand after twelve people reported illnesses after consuming the turkey. At least one of those illnesses was reported in Wisconsin. On Monday, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention announced that this particular strain of Salmonella may be resistant to antibiotics and could cause severe vomitting and diarrhea.
The recall only affects Jennie-O All Natural Turkey Burgers, and anyone who has purchased the product has been advised to immediately contact the store from which they purchased it for a full refund.
