The National Transportation Safety Board has been releasing more details on a plane crash that occurred Monday on Lake Winnebago that killed two people.
According to reports, a 36-year-old woman and 47-year-old man were the only people in the single-engine Piper plane when it crashed over Lake Winnebago, just a half mile from the shore of Van Dyne. The two people had been flying from Oshkosh, where they had attended an aviation convention.
Boaters rushed to the area where the plane crashed in order to help the victims, who were in 6 feet of water. Both the man and woman died at the scene of the accident. The NTSB and Federal Aviation Administration are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with the friends and families of the man and woman who died in this tragic accident.
